THE MANGROVES FOREST
lys bui created the scenery of the mangrove forest in Can Gio (Viet Nam) by combining silkscreening techniques and the traditional Vietnamese silk-painting.
given her opportunity to study silk-painting in her hometown, Bui has grown attached to silk which is an incredibly strong and durable material, despite its fragile look. Being inspired from this unique trait of silk, the artist arranges different layers of silk prints to enhance the depth and ethereality of the mangrove landscape, in order to highlight its quirky/ eccentrict/ outlandish inhabitants.
